Obtain a Copy or Estimate of My Score

If you would like to learn your score on the MBE and your testing jurisdiction permits the release of MBE scaled scores to examinees, log in to your NCBE Account or create an NCBE Account if you do not have one and go to the Score Services page. Your Unofficial NCBE Exam History includes all scores earned on the MBE during the last seven years (when authorized by the testing jurisdiction), all scores earned on the legacy UBE and/or NextGen UBE, and MPRE scores earned since 1999.

Some jurisdictions do not permit the release of MBE scaled scores to examinees. If you took the MBE in one of those jurisdictions, your Unofficial NCBE Exam History will include a Score Advisory note in the MBE Scaled Score column. To see your MBE Score Advisory, first determine if your testing jurisdiction authorizes NCBE to perform score advisories, then request an Unofficial Bar Exam Score Transcript.

The MBE Score Advisory is designed to let you know if your score meets or exceeds one of the following scaled score values: 133, 145, or 150. This advisory is solely for your personal use, does not include your actual score, and is not shared with jurisdictions for transfer purposes. It is only available if your testing jurisdiction does not release scores and does not authorize NCBE to do so.

To request an Unofficial Bar Exam Score Transcript, log in to your NCBE Account or create an NCBE Account if you do not have one and go to the Score Services page, and select Request Bar Exam Score Service. The transcript will include your MBE Score Advisories or scores earned during the last seven years (when authorized by the testing jurisdiction), as well as all scores earned on the legacy UBE and/or NextGen UBE.

Unofficial Bar Exam Score Transcripts are posted to the examinee's NCBE Account Document Center.

Fee

A $30 fee is required for an Unofficial Bar Exam Score Transcript.

Time Frame

Ordinarily, score services requests are processed the next business day after receipt of payment. Scores and  score advisories will not appear on transcripts but not until after the testing jurisdiction has announced its examination results and authorized release of your score or score advisory information. Unofficial Bar Exam Score Transcripts are stored in the NCBE Account Document Center for a maximum of 90 days. Candidates are encouraged to download and save the release within that time frame to avoid having to purchase another release.

NCBE reports examinees' MBE scores to the jurisdiction in which the examinee tested. NCBE does not report scores to examinees or other jurisdictions unless authorized by the testing jurisdiction.

General Instructions

Not all jurisdictions authorize NCBE to perform MBE score services, and the specific services that are authorized vary. In other words, where you took the MBE determines what services NCBE is authorized to provide. In some cases, jurisdictions perform the score service themselves or the service isn't available from NCBE or the jurisdiction. See the specific score services sections above for lists of which jurisdictions authorize NCBE to perform those score services. Since rules and policies of jurisdictions change, you are strongly advised to consult the jurisdiction's bar admission agency directly for the most current information.

Score transfer requests for the October 2020 remote exam must be submitted directly to the testing jurisdiction; do not submit an NCBE score services request.

NCBE is not authorized to transfer or release any MBE score information until after the testing jurisdiction has announced its examination results and authorized release of the examinee's score.

Maximum Age of MBE Scores

Each jurisdiction sets its own maximum age policy; however, NCBE performs score services only for MBE scores that are seven years old or less. If your score is older than seven years, check with your testing jurisdiction to determine if your score is available from the jurisdiction; if your score is not available from your testing jurisdiction, check with the jurisdiction to which you are seeking admission for instructions about how to proceed.

Score Services Fees

The fee ($30 for each score service transaction) may be paid online by credit card (MasterCard or Visa only).

Payment by check must be mailed to NCBE with a printout of the confirmation page at the end of the score services request form and may significantly delay the processing of your request. No score services will be performed until credit card information is processed or until a check is received with a printout of the confirmation page.

Refunds will not be provided for any reason. It is your responsibility to read these instructions carefully before requesting any score services and to verify that you have provided the correct information in your request.
